In the 20th century, Danish design was greatly influenced by functionalism with its consistent simplicity. This book goes in depth with how simplicity has deep roots in Danish design with a special focus on Professor Kaare Klint's Furniture School at the Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen Carpenters' Guild's exhibitions and FDB's early furniture efforts. There are also six themes in the book that deal with design from unexpected angles: foreign inspiration, flexibility, mono components (created from one piece of material), geometry, order and sculpture.
